New York, Milan and Paris will soon be welcoming the new Maurizio Massimino A/W 2020 collection

The women’s A/W 2020 collection once again conveys a unique, inimitable message that has been refreshed and revisited by bringing together ordinary clothes with materials such as velvet, satin, nylon, wool and appliqués featuring flashes of light, distinctive buttons, bands of leather, jewels, patches, and strips of fabric with original textures. The concept devised and developed by designer Maurizio Massimino revolves around sartorial takes on classic denim and everyday items. They are adorned with highly contrasting additions that are understated in some cases and eccentric or ostentatious in others. The outlines of trousers and jackets are given a contemporary flavour by the use of materials with a variety of shapes and styles, as well as colours such as ochre, black, burgundy and sky blue.

It all comes together in exquisitely unique womenswear that stems from a blend of lifestyles and inspirations.

Research and unique qualities are at the heart of the new collection, which will be presented at:

It’s time for Pitti Immagine Uomo: one of the top international events in the world of men’s fashion. Once again this year, it will help to shine the spotlight on the mood of the new autumn/winter 2020 men’s collection by Maurizio Massimino. He’s combined his great love for vintage items with his distinctive tastes to create a collection that gives a fresh, unique twist to classic everyday garments.

He presents his own, individual take on vintage style by updating it with a range of materials, such as satin, velvet, nylon and Prince of Wales check, as well as appliqués inspired by the armed forces, patches, badges and tapestry designs. The shapes of trousers are given a contemporary flavour by materials with a variety of shapes and styles, not to mention colours ranging from ochre and apricot to black and indigo. Then there are the jackets: Maurizio Massimino has taken a classic velvet design and added his own personal touches to the collar, cuffs, belt and pockets, giving rise to sartorial style that is revisited yet also fresh and unique at the same time.

Tranoï in Paris showcases the Women’s Spring Summer 2020 collection

Maurizio Massimino stepped outside the box and presented overhauled, sartorial style in the spellbinding Palais De La Bourse during the Tranoi International Fashion Events in Paris.

The new women’s SS 2020 collection conveys the inimitable message of Maurizio Massimino, who likes to steer clear of the clean-cut, austere style that prevails among the masses in everyday life. He presents a unique take that stems from a hugely varied range of spectacular experiences.

“The Spring Summer 2020 collection tells the tale of three journeys that really brought out my creative side. It merges moods to push beyond the ordinary and make women feel precious and special. In Africa I fell in love with the colours of the sand and the soil, ranging from white and beige to chocolate hues. The resulting clothes come with zebra-pattern fabric detailing and hand-written wording. Meanwhile, I was enchanted by the idea of festive occasions in coastal locations such as Mykonos, Saint-Tropez and Capri, with backdrops formed by stripes, floral patterns, fresh and light fabrics like linen, and blue, white and sandy hues. Finally, I took my passion for the garments with a vintage flavour that I seek out across the globe and used it as the basis for research, giving them a modern twist. I mixed influences from the three journeys in outfits that reject today’s conventional approaches.

Therein lies the appeal of my new women’s collection, which is filled with appliqués, detailing, tweaked and fused styles and materials, cultures and approaches to life. It is for a woman who is at ease with what she wears. She feels unique and exclusive when she is shrouded in my unconventional style.”

Maurizio Massimino is in the spotlight at Pitti Immagine Uomo 96 with an overhauled, sartorial and unique style.

I like to step outside the box and steer clear of the clean-cut, austere style that prevails among the masses and in everyday life. With my fashion, I aim to communicate in a fresh way that is influenced by the different experiences that I have been lucky enough to have over the years. The Men’s SS2020 collection tells the tale of three journeys and three sources of inspiration that triggered my creative processes and helped me to conceive an overhauled, unique sartorial image.

The Maurizio Massimino woman is tough, decisive and determined. Her unique, authentic style stems from my great passion for mixing and matching not only materials and fabrics but also lifestyles, cultures and inspirations. She is a woman who is at ease with what she wears. She feels unique and exclusive when she is shrouded in my unconventional, sartorial style, which harks back to past creations to convey an inimitable message. I had a great time starting from scratch with classic velvet and denim, then expressing my creativity by making playful, chic additions such as buttons, stones, colours and materials of all kinds, including wool. The results of this distinctive combination with basic style are presented by my new women’s autumn-winter 2019 collection, which fuses moods to push beyond the ordinary and make women feel precious and special.

Leisure time and Dressy: in my new collection the two oppposite attract.

Man often devotes himself to hunting and fishing in his free time and I have taken inspiration from that very context to create my new Fall Winter Collection 2019. I have mixed that British mood with more elegant garments and fashion accessories. A sartorial style unique and at the same time rivisited, made up of elements like patches, nylon, satin, Prince of Wales fabrics matched up with elegant jackets or trousers. I have enjoyed and got passionate about combining different materials and styles: for instance taking a sweatshirt, the classic casual sweatshirt that everybody has, and making it my own, by utilizing brightly coloured textiles and then matching it up with once again different garments and styles. That is the way I like contemporary man to be dressed, in a sartorial way, which you notice in cuffs, belts, as well as pockets and jackets profiles. That’s him… and he won’t but feel unique.

50s and 60s revival with a sartorial flavour

When I conceived and produced my women’s Spring-Summer 2019 collection, I took inspiration from total looks dating back to the time of Italy’s famous economic boom, then mixed in influences from the world of workwear and embellished it all with sartorial features.

On the workwear front, I selected iconic garments from the 50s and 60s, then gave them a modern twist using textiles from old archives and recycled materials, such as fabrics from mattresses with large stripes.

For the sartorial part, I drew on the cruise collection and added fashionable new fits, prized fabrics and luxury sartorial details.

Research and unique qualities in revisited versions of iconic 50s and 60s garments

Lots of people ask me where I got my inspiration for the Spring-Summer 2019 collection. The answer is simple: I couldn’t find anything to suit my style on the market, so I made it myself.
My taste and my love for vintage items are behind a collection whose appeal lies in revisiting iconic 50s and 60s garments and in the care with which each item is made. Anyone who wears a Maurizio Massimino garment can claim to have a real work of art that is genuinely unique.
This year I sought out old military tents and equally dated mattresses. After sterilizing the fabrics, I used them to create unique individual items: each tent can be used to make two jackets, which are cut one by one in an artisan process. The jackets were manually numbered with a stamp and a total of 100 will be sold worldwide.
The concepts that my new Spring-Summer 2019 collection aims to convey are research, unique tones, colours and attention to detail. Anyone who wears Maurizio Massimino will feel unique.
